Samsung is bringing AirDrop compatibility to its Galaxy S26 lineup, extending the reach of its Quick Share wireless file transfer platform to seamlessly connect with Apple's iPhone ecosystem.
Beginning its rollout on Monday, the updated Quick Share feature will debut on Galaxy S26 handsets in South Korea before progressively reaching additional territories — including North America, Latin America, Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan. Looking ahead, Samsung has confirmed plans to extend AirDrop interoperability to devices beyond the S26 series, though the specific models slated to receive the update have not yet been disclosed.
Samsung's Quick Share first arrived on the Galaxy S20 in 2020 — a full seven years after Apple originally introduced AirDrop within iOS. The feature subsequently underwent a significant evolution when it merged with Google's Nearby Share in 2024, broadening its availability across non-Samsung Android devices, ChromeOS, and Windows PCs. The platform's cross-ecosystem reach expanded further in 2025, when AirDrop compatibility was introduced for Google Pixel 10 devices. The latest development accelerates that trajectory, steadily dismantling the long-standing friction that users face when transferring files across Android and iOS platforms.
Enabling the functionality on a Galaxy S26 requires a straightforward configuration step: users must activate the "Share with Apple devices" toggle within the phone's settings, accessible by navigating to "Connected devices" followed by "Quick Share."
